With the signal flag, the signaller can approach an oncoming train in an emergency and notify the train driver to stop using the appropriate signal. The train driver then applies the emergency brakes and activates warning signals. In this way, workers can clear the tracks in the event of danger. So that the signal flag can be used without undue delay, signallers should carry the flag in their hand or holder so that it can be recognised immediately when taken out. |
